Stern Laboratories Inc. is a Canadian owned private corporation. We conduct reliability and safety experiments under contract to utilities, nuclear reactor and fuel vendors, government agencies and nuclear equipment suppliers. We also manufacture specialized equipment, such as nuclear fuel simulators, for use in other laboratories.
We have built up a skilled and experienced staff of mainly professional engineers and engineering technologists, while serving the Nuclear Industry in Canada and in many other countries for over 45 years. We offer modern test equipment and services to meet the needs of customers quickly and efficiently. The laboratory specializes in the design and construction of experimental devices and facilities to simulate reactor heat transport systems, safety systems, fuel and fuel channel components, conducting experiments in these facilities and analyzing and reporting the results. Highly specialized computing hardware and software are available for precise control of test conditions and for high speed, accurate acquisition and reduction of data for experiments involving up to many thousands of measurements per second.
All experimental results are treated confidentially and our reports address the customer's objectives in a lucid and straight-forward manner. Cost is always a primary consideration and is given high visibility by issuing monthly progress reports with detailed cost statements for each project task. Expenditures and progress are monitored by the Project Engineer to ensure the best value for our customers. We have a Quality Assurance Program in place in the laboratory which is intended to meet the requirements of ISO 9001 (1994) and 10CFR50 Appendix B. The laboratory facilities are continually being upgraded to meet the needs of our customers. Space and services are readily available for new experimental programs. Engineers with many years of experience in the design of successful experimental programs, including construction and operation of the experimental equipment, are available for consultation and to provide realistic proposals for your work, showing how, when, and at what cost we can meet your requirements.
