Stern Laboratories Inc. is a
Canadian owned private corporation that conducts reliability and
safety experiments for utilities, nuclear reactor and fuel
vendors, government agencies and nuclear equipment suppliers. We
also manufacture specialized devices, such as electrically heated
nuclear fuel simulators and equipment for remote inspection and
handling of spent nuclear fuel. We have a
skilled and experienced staff of professional engineers and
engineering technologists and have served the Nuclear Industry in
Canada and in many other countries for over 45 years.
The laboratory specializes in the design and construction of
experimental devices and facilities to simulate reactor heat
transport systems, safety systems, fuel and fuel channel
components, conducting experiments in these facilities and
analyzing and reporting the results. Highly specialized computing
hardware and software are available for precise control of test
conditions and for high speed, accurate acquisition and reduction
of data for experiments involving up to many thousands of
measurements per second. The
laboratory facilities are continually being upgraded to meet
the needs of our customers. Space and services are readily
available for new programs. Experimental results are treated
confidentially and our reports address customer objectives in a
lucid and straight-forward manner.
Cost is always a primary consideration and expenditures and
progress are monitored by the Project Engineer to ensure the best
value for our customers. We have a comprehensive quality
assurance program in place which meets the requirements of ISO
9001 (1994) and 10CFR50 Appendix B. Engineers with many years of
experience in the design of successful experimental programs,
including construction and operation of the experimental
equipment, are available for consultation and to provide
realistic proposals for your work, showing how, when, and at what
cost we can meet your requirements.
