Stern Laboratories is dedicated to providing quality products and services which meet or exceed the expectations and contractual requirements of our customers and are consistent with professional standards and ethics.

We employ experienced engineers, technologists and technicians who are committed to a professional team approach to quality that stimulates continuous improvement in the products and services provided to our customers.

The quality program at Stern Laboratories (SL) meets the applicable requirements of quality standard CAN/CSA-ISO-9001-1994. The overall quality program is documented in our manual QAP-01 which is supplemented by standard quality procedures for many specific elements of the program. Various quality documents are also generated for particular needs or customer contracts as required.

The quality requirements of the work vary depending on the customer and the type of work involved. In addition to the CAN/CSA-ISO-9001-1994 standard, we are often required to meet other Canadian standards such as the CAN/CSA N286.2 and CAN3-Z299 series, or U.S. and international standards such as 10CFR50 Appendix B, 10CFR Part 21, or ASME-NQA-1.

Due to the experimental nature of most of our work, quality documents are usually specifically prepared for each contract. The overall quality requirements for a customer contract are documented in an Inspection and Test Plan and/or a Quality Plan which is reviewed and approved by the customer.

In most cases, our customers are required by their regulating authority to perform an audit of our quality system with reference to their specific quality standards and requirements. We are an approved supplier for many utilities, reactor and fuel designers and vendors, government agencies and other laboratories.

Stern Laboratories Inc. is certified by TSSA to manufacture pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1 and CSA Standard B-51, Boiler, Pressure Vessels and Pressure Piping Code. A quality manual was specifically prepared by SL and approved by TSSA for Code activities. TSSA routinely performs audits of the SL program.
