The laboratory has the facilities and expertise to offer various other services such as helium leak testing, design and fabrication of specialty instrumentation and devices, calibration of pressure and temperature instrumentation, and photographic and video recording.
Typical Facilities
- Corrosion Test Loop, rated at 11 MPa, 320°C with 70 kW of DC power for testing samples (eg. nuclear fuel sheaths, steam generator tubes) under precisely controlled conditions of water chemistry, flow, temperature, pressure and heat flux.
- VEECO Mass Spectrometers for helium leak testing.
- Hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic dead weight testers for calibration of pressure measurement devices such as pressure transmitters and pressure gauges.
- Rosemount Platinum RTD secondary standard for calibration of temperature measurement devices.
- Windowless Gas Flow Proportional Counter for detection of alpha particles.
- Weigh tank facilities for calibration of flow measurement devices.
- Video cameras and recorders and wide range of photographic equipment.
- Water jet cutting machine with 5 axis computer control.
- Wire EDM machine with 4-axis computer control.
